RE: Military Oaths post a few weeks back

I seem to have passed something along that has either tickled some military wives or angered them. here is the original post. I just wanted to take minute to say i mean absolutely no disrespect to the military folks. A lot of my family/friends either is or was in the military. To that end I hear a fair amount of the jokes that come out of the services. To point one lady is correct, I am something of a military want to be, I would be in the armed services right now if they offered a "fat body program" for large guys. I truly appreciate the blood , sweat and tears sacrificed by Americas men and women. So in essence this is an apology to the couple wives who were offended by the post. no harm was intended.

actually they do have a fat body program. its called get your fat ass on a diet and work it off. basically......but we call it Basic training. its not a good time to post 'humor' of this sort. i guess when you are watching your husband board a bus not knowing if it will be the last time you see him. and your family members are already there while you comfort your best friend/family member because she don't know if he will be comming home either, something like this isn't funny. it makes you feel like every night that you put your kids to bed alone and try and assure them that daddy does love them, and that is why he left, not because he didn't want to be with them anymore, that what they do isn't appreciated. think before you post. always a good rule of thumb.

I posted it a while back. and as others have mentioned, it is composed of zingers that different branches throw at each other. It was placed to honor that camaraderie not insult it. I'm sorry you feel as you do. I hope they all come home soon. Till then they are in my churches and families prayers.

I've read far more things that were actually intended to offend, it's pretty clear this was humor taken from actaul things said by members of different branches. If people get that mad at this, I wonder how mad they would get to read and hear the things that are being said by people like Barrak Obama like "we are just conducting air-rades, and going into villages killing innocent civilians". Now THAT is offensive and spoken out of stupidity. I take offense to that, not to a joke.

And how, army wife, are sombre, glum posts helping the volunteering soldiers who, by now, found out that "soldier" includes "going into hostile area to get shot at for no reason making sense, once bullets start flying"?

Even when making fun of something, you can still appreciate it. And the reader should think before posting, too. That's an argument that goes two ways.

And if you can't take a joke anymore, the terrorists have won.

My heart goes out to 'army wife', it can be a rough emotional ride. I hope support from family and friends is close by. This was clearly intended to be a joke and if emotions are raw, then perhaps it's best to avoid content such as was posted.

Oh, fer vryin' out loud! Would you people lighten up? IT'S A JOKE! Get over it! It's called satire! As my nick indicates, I've served in the Navy AND Marines. Inservice, we pass jokesworse than this around all the time! It's part of the 'esprit de corps' of being soldiers in the Service of the US. Just like brothes and sisters kid around and cut eachother down.

Army wife: seek help. It's there for you at base services.

All the rest of you, lay off this guy. I can assure you, this originated from inside the military. We get that it's comedy. You should, too.

Okay, army wife, quit it. Now. You've already been told by several actual military personnel that this is exactly the kind of stuff they trade among themselves, and still you keep it going. And now that John's apologized for upsetting YOUR over-sensitive nature, you STILL keep brow-beating him.

You're just being cruel for the fun of it. This is no longer about respecting the troops. Stop.
